UPPER HUTT TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly mooting of the Uppct Hutt Town Board was held last ovcn> ing. Present, Commissioners Wobl (chairman), Benge, Bennington, Ed' wards, Komp, and Robertson. St. Hilda's (Anglican) Church Vostry wrote offering to defray tho post of » lamp in front of tho church building if tbo boartj'* agreed to maintain viamo. Offer accepted on usual conditions. Tho Public Trustee advised that a sum of £700 had been paid to its bonkers, as requested, and that a sum of £6000 (balance of £11,000 loan) was cow available as required. It was decided to ask for a further £1000 to moot progress payments falling duo. Commissioner It. Quinn wrote tendering liis resignation on accoimt of illness. On tho motion of the chairman tho resignation was received with regret/ and a minute of his past serviceß recorded. Messrs. Dutbie and Co., Ltd., wrote asking tho board to pass an acoount for pip6s supplied to tho waterworks contractors (Andrews, Kennedy, and Gosse), and advising that interest accrued on overdue payment thereof had beon passed on to tho board. It was decided to pay interest; as' requested, subject to amount being stated, and to tho board's engineer being satisfied that tho dates' were correct. Tho matter of a resident at tlio southern. ond of ,tho township not having complied with tho building by-laws was tho subjoci of a resolution to'tho effect tliat all papors iij connection with an original request to erect a tool shed, and Mr. Lay's enso bo . laid upon tho tablo at next mooting. Tho dog-tax collccted reported 119 dogs in tho town district, 75 wjdstered, 13 to register, _aiid 17 registered outside tlio district. Two dogs had been tho Maori owner claiming the privilege 'of paying tax to tho Maori Council. Tho ranger reporter 16 seizures, the property of twelve owners, olio of whom is to bo summoned. Tho board resumed discission of bylaws proposed to be brought into force in connection" with tlio ' water' supply from Akaturawa, and it was decided to place a rough draft in tho printer's hands, tho proofs of same to bo supplied before next meeting.
