FRIEDMANN "CURE."
AN AUSTRALIAN'S EXPERIENCE
As a means of testing Dr. Friedmann's alleged euro for'consumption, a residoht of Victoria reputed to bo suffering from the malady went to Ilerliti for treatment, bearing a letter of introduction from Mr. \V. 11. Edgar, who at tlio timo was Minister for Health in Victoria. Mr. Edgar has now received the following communication from Berlin:—"lnstitut zur Bchandlung del Tuherkulose und Skrofuloso, Dr. Friedrich Franz Fricdmahn, Berlin, don 29/7/13. —To liis Excellency Mr. W. H. Edgar, Minister, of Health, Melbourne. —Dear Sir, —Wo regret infinitely to toll you that Mr. Clark, whom you kindly sent to us with your lines of March 14. as to the symptoms of tuberculosis of the lungs, has been much ameliorised, but that ho suffers of a very maligno tumor in tlio abdomen, which seems to bo a partition of tlio liver. You can feel a duro tumor, whose place is very painful. As the l patient tells us that for family reasons ho wants to return for Australia, and that lie feols strong enough for the journey, we dismissed' him to-dav. Wo regret infinitely that just the first patient, wliom you wore kind enough to send us. not can be cured by us because of tho not tubercular nature of his illness, tho more ns already a great number of tubercular patients from nil parts of Australia arc already mucli better, and.part of.them wholly cured.—With kindest regards, yours respectfully,—(Signed) Friedinnnn." ■
