WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. j Pakeha A 3 Petono 2 Hereawa 6 Pakeha B v ... 5 Artillery .... 8 Hui -Uai ....... 4 PAKEHA A & PETONE. Tlio match Pakelia and Pctono was played at Petone, and ior tho iirst timo in three years i'etono sutt'ered defeat. The early stages of tlio game were very even, both sides putting in good work. I'etone had the lust opening, but the cliancc was thrown away by too many players wanting to shoot at oucc. Shoeran, for Pakeha, was tlio lirst.to score, the goal resulting from a scramble in front of the goal. For some time after I'etone had Pakeha on tho defensive, but olf-side play eventually relieved the pressure. Then from a forwaid rush Sheeraii sent tho ball out to the wing, who centred, and Lyons scored tlio second goal for Pakcha. Tho spell ended' that way. In tho second spell, Pakeha opened well, and after a few minutes' play Lyons added another goal to Pakoha's score. Potone now played with more combination, and M'Ewan put the finish to a nice piece of passing by scoring tho first goal for his side. Petone continued to be very aggressive, but tile tino deience of the Pakelia fullbacks staved them oil'. But sustained attack in every game has a way of getting through. Taplin presently added another goal for. Petone. From this stago to tho finish Potono had tho best of <tho game, and when the whistle sounded had Pakelia very much on the defence. Mr. J. C. Cusack was referee. ARTILLERY & HUI MAI. Tho match between Artillery and Hui Mai was played at Karori, and resulted in a win for Artillery by 8 goals to 4. Batten and Reado scored for Artillery in tlio first spell, while Bree (2) and Brookor (2) got goals through for llui Mai. In the second spell, Batten (3), Turner (2), and May (1) added, as indicated. to Artillery's total. Mr. M'Kenzio was referee. HEREAWA & PAKEHA B. After a closo and interesting game, Hereawa defeated Pakeha B by 6 goals to 5. Caterer (3), Clementson (3), scored for Hereawa, and Spears (4) and Johnson (1) for Pakelia B.
