CARTERTON NOTES.
Mr. W. Hart, for many years a resident of Dalelield, died in the Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday morning. .Mr. and Mrs.,T. M. Aplin,, who arc leaving Carterton to tako up their residence in the Kaituna, Masterton, district, were entertained by tho congregation of the Presbyterian Church, Carterton, <111 Holiday evening. During tho proceedings the Kov. L. _ Thompson, 011 behalf of the congregation, presented Mr. Aplin with an oak Morris chair, with inscribed silver plate attached, and to Mrs. Aplin he handed a beautiful silver tea service. Both gifts, were suitably acknowledged by Mr. Aplin.. 111 tho Carterton Polieo Court on Tuesday a man named James Fitzpatrick was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon 011 six charges of obtaining small sums »if money by falsely representing himself as a newspaper canvasser.. Tho presiding justices also ordered that tho money (£0 25.) found oil accused bo used to reimburse tho persons ho had defrauded, tho total amount of money wrongfully obtained amounting to £5 in all .
