KARORI COUNCIL.
Tho Karori Borough Council met last night. Present: Councillors Byrne (chair), Bradnock, Davis, Hamilton, Henderson, Cimino, and Skegg. Councillors Boyes and Lower were granted leave of absence from the meeting, and Councillor Cimino for two consecutive meetings. - The Minister for Justice notified that tho council's representations in connection with the proposal to givo local authorities certain powers in connection with the running of motor-buses in any borough would receive consideration.— Received. Tho Karori School Committee wroto thanking the council for the use of chairs for concert.purposcs.—Received. The Works Committee recommended an amount of channelling, kerbing, and blocking to form gutters along several of the principal streets. —Adopted. A lawn mower is to be procured for use on the croquet lawns, the cost not to exceed £1. A complaint from a Karori resident as to sewerage from adjoining houses flowing on to his section was referred to the Engineer. Tho clerk ,was instructed to prepare a return of the number of horses and eattlo impounded during the period from April to August, the number of persons prosecuted for same, and tho amounts collected in fees.

Gd.* Two horses attached to a tumbril wero frightened hy the shrieking of a leveret, which was being chased bv a.> dog at Thurston, Norfolk, and boltfd. The driver was thrown to tho ground, and tho wheels pf tho tumbril passed over his body, inflicting fatal injuries.
