After thirty years' servico, Sir. Jolm JloH'iiloy lias resigned tho position of superintendent of tho Gisborne Firo Brigade. Ho lias been mado a lifa member of tho brigade, and has been presented with a gold badge to mark his services. Mr. Townley is known as Gisbomo's "grand old nian."

Commander Arthur AVilson M'Kollar, second son of Mr. Dugald M'Kellar, or Wellington, formerly Collector of Customs, has been awarded tho Royal Naval Reserve Officers' Decoration. Bom in Auckland district, Commander M'Kellar entered tho service of tho New Zealand Shipping Company when fifteen years old, and after serving on various sailing ships owned by that company, he was appointed to tho old Kaikoura, which was commanded ■by Captain Crutchley. Commander M'Kellar _is now master of the new Kaikoura, which •arrived last \yeek at Auckland'from London.

On Sunday' morning last Bishop Novill instituted the Rev. E. L. houso to tlio charge of the parish of St. Mary's, Mornington. There was a very largo congregation, and great interest was taken in the proceedings.
