Wedding in St. Thomas's. Tho marriage took place in St: Thomas's Church, Newtown, of Miss Daisio Clara Suckling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. \\[. H. Suckling, of Wellington, to Mr. Victor Gordon Webb. As tho brido was a member of St. Thomas's Choir, the service, which was conducted • by the Rev. Mr. Fancourt, assisted by tiio Ven. ■ Archdeacon Fancourt, was choral. She was given away by her father, and wore a blue and white costume, tho / skirt being of white clotli trimmed in tile front with blister pearl buttons, and the pale blue coat, with satin rever.'j and cuffs to match in colour, tho white waist coat and mediei frill of tune. Her white picture hat was veiled with whito tulle, finished' at tho side with a satin rose. Tho bridal bouquet, was of white flowers, fastened with long white ribbons, on which were afterwards signed the names of all the guests at the reception. The bridesmaids were Miss Clara Jacobson and little Miss Alison Kemp. Tho former wore an amethyst cloth costume, with medici frill of tulle to match, and an amethyst hat. The little girl was in a white embroidered frock, with a blue sash, a white frilled hat and pale blue shoes and socks. She carried a posy of primroses and blue forget-me-nots. Mr. Alric Butler was tho best man. The . bride's mother wore a black and white striped - costumo, and a i black hat trimmed with white tulle, & whito leather and small knot of black aud white flowers. A cream lace scarf completed her'costume, and sho earned a bouquet' of spring flowers, tied with amothyst ribbon. A reception was held after tho wedding at "Naumai," Coromandel Street, tho residence of Mr. and ■ .Mrs. Suckling. Among the guests were: Mrs. Suckling (Nelson), aunt of tho ; bride, who wore a black silk dress and a grey and black toque with black ostrich feathers; also Alts. Allison, an- ; other aupt, who was in a navy blue | costume, with black and white striped ; rovers, a black laco scarf, and a black. hat trimmed with black velvet and a ■ whito ostrich feather. Her bouquet of sprilig flowers, was also tied with amethyst ribbon. Tile brido travolled in a 1 grey striped tailored costume, black fox i furs'(the gift of the bridegroom), and a small grey toquo trimmed with tullo . and bhick and yellow buttercups. j Dana at Makaraka. A Surprise Party. It was ono of the merriest of stirprise parties that invaded tlio domkvlo of the Rov. Mr. Chapman and family on Friday evening last. Many of the "invaders" were in fancy dress, and this added much to tlio spirit of gaiety. Songs, recitations, games, and dancing made tlio time pass all too quickly, and everyone was sorry when the evening drew to a close. Amongst those who contributed items wero:—The Misses Kathleen Clark, Dorrit, Eastham, Nita Clark, Alice Montgomery, Janio I'etrie, Dorothy Montgomery, and Oorrnio Kircber, and Messrs, Shorney. Eastham, Saxton, Arlidge, Evans, and' Harrison. ' Miss Franccs Hodgkins is the guest of Sirs. Von Haast, Miss Williams (Palmerston North) is spending a few days in Wellington. Sirs. A. L. Hordman returned last week from her visit to Htvwke's Bay. The engagement has been announced of Miss Ncoline P. Cruickshank, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. 11. Cruickshank, of Masterton, to Mr. Guy Mace, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mace, of "Bramnierton," Tauem. Mrs. Marriott (Levin) is visiting friends in Wellington. The Basilica Choir danoe takes place in the Sydney Street Schoolroom bu Tuesday. The W.C.T.U. intend to hold a convention at Petone next Wednesday .in the Church of Christ.
