HOUSING OF WORKERS CON- . DEM NED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. August 28, 8.55, p.m.) Sydney, August 27. The report by Professor Irvine (of the Chair of Economics", at Sydney University, and some time member of tho Public Service Board), on the question of the housing of workers, has been tabled in the State Assembly. It contains damning evidence of overcrowding, and tho resultant unhealthy conditions at Waterloo, Surrey Hills, Redfem, and other portions of the city. Tho report mentions that one houso was occupied by seven families. In several houses thero was only one room, where all the household duties were performed. Children from such crowded areas were driven to frequent tho streets, and though these were healthier than tho crowded houses, the corrupting influences of street life needed no comment.
