CHANGES AT THE EMBASSIES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. August 27, 10.50 p.m.) London, August 27. t Sir Fairfax Cartwright, British Ambassador at Vienna, is retiring. Sir Moni de Bunson, Ambassador at Madrid, succeeds, him. Sir Arthur Hardingo, Ambassador at Lisbon, succeods Sir Moni do Bunson. Tho Et. Hon. Sir Fairfax ' Leighton Cartwriglut, K.C.M.G., C.V.0., was born July, 1857,-and was nominated an attache in 1881. • He was appointed to various positions in the Service, and acted in most of the oapitals of Eiirope, In 190S ho was made "a K.C.M.G. and a Privy Councillor,, and on November 1 of tho same year was promoted to be. Ambassador Extraordinary -and Plenepotentiary at Vienna. Tho Bt. Hon. Sir Maurice William da Bunson, born January, 1852, was first nominated an attache in 1877, and passed through , ' tho many promotions and changes incident to,,tho Service until ho w-os appointed' a Minister Plenipotentiary in 1902, being then stationed in Paris. Ho received his Madrid appointment in February, 190 G. He has also been stationed at Constantinople,. and is a Turkish scholar. Sir Arthur Henry Haxdinge, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., born 1859, is a Fellow of All Souls' College, Oxford, and was appointed a clerk in tho Foreign Office in ISSO. He was granted, at different times, allowances for a knowledge of Russian, Turkish. and Arabic. Ho was promoted to be Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Shah of Persia in 1900.
