Marriage at Island Bay, The marriage took placo yesterday, in St. Hilda's Church, Island Bay, of Miss Elsio Elizabeth M'Lean, youngest daughter of Mr. W. M'Lean, Home Street, Wellington, to Mr. W. A. Wright. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. Mr. Maclaverty. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a cream cloth costume, tho pale pink collar and ouffs being veiled with cream lace, and a large picture hat with lace-covered crown trimmed with purple ribbon and small pink roses. Her bridesmaid, Miss Helen Jack, wore a biscuit-coloured coat and skirt piped with rose pink, and .a cliatnpagno tagel hat ruched with black tulle, and finished with rose-pink osprey plumes. Mr. J. Doyle, of Gisborne, was the best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at Godber's rooms, and later in tho afternoon the bride and bridegroom left on their wedding journey, the former travelling in a navy serge tailored costume, a violet velvet toque, trimmed with ospreys and furs. Among those present at the.reception were: Mrs. Ferkins, sister of the bride, who wore brown satin with a cream lace vest and. largo brown hat wit'h i black velvet streamers. Mrs. Brown, sister of tho bridegroom, was in a mole costume, black hat with white feathers, and black furs; Mrs. Ronald M'Lean (aunt of tho bride), palo bluo costume with black and white facings'and hat to match; Mrs. Adamson, navy bluo costumo and green hat with feathers; Miss Nash, violet cloth costume and champagne Tagel hat trimmed with cheno ribbon. Marriage in St. Andrew's Church. The marriage took placo in St. Andrew's Church yesterday of Miss Lily Longton, daughter of Mrs. Longton, of Blackheath, Sydney, to Mr. G. F. Wilson, of tho firm of Messrs. Gualter, Dykes, and Co., Wellington. The Rev. Gibson Smith performed tho ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her mother, wore a gown of cream chiffon velvet, the bodice having a fichu eflcct of cream chiffon, and a wide velours hat massed with ostrich feathers. Her ornaments wero a pearl ring, brooch, and earrings, tho gift of Mrs. Barnott, and sho carried a bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaids wero her sister, Miss Long, (■on, and two little-girls, tho daughters of Mr, and Mrs. Patterson, of Kelburne. The chief bridesmaid wore a nattier bluo oostume and a cream Leghorn hat trimmed with pink clover. Her bouquet was of freesias and. violets. _ The little girls were daintily frockod in white ninon, and can-ied bouquets of freesias, and maiden-hair foliage. The best man was Mr. Wiggins. Mrs. Longton, tho mother of tho bride,, wore a beautifully embroidered black gown, with a black Napoleon hat trimmed with whito ostrich feathers. She carried a bouquet of violets and maiden-hair fern. Tho bridegroom's present to thc bride was a diamond ring sot in platinum, and to him was given a sil-ver-mounted walking-stick and umbrella. The bachelors of Kenilworth, where both the brido and bridegroom have been staying prior to their wedding, presented tho bride with a handsome travelling-bag, and the bridegroom with an antiquo clock. After the ceremony the bridal party returned to Kenilworth, where the wedding breakfast was hold. Quantities of beautiful spring flowers decorated tho rooms, and the tables in the dining-room, and tho health of the bride and bridegroom was toasted with enthusiasm. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson left for the south, the latter travelling in a navyvblue costume with revers and cuffs of blue velvet, with gold embroidery, and a hat with the same touches of colour. Among the guests at tho wedding wero: Mr. and Mrs. Kali, Mr. and Mrs. J. Dykes, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, tho Rev. Gibson Smith and Mrs. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, Mr. Harper, and others. The Savage Club, of Which the bridegroom is a member, presented him With a handsome silver salver. Tea at the Pioneer Club. Yesterday afternoon a pleasant informal little tea was given at the Pioneer-Club' by Miss M. Richmond for Miss Mario Motto, who is spending some months in Now Zealand. Large bowls and vases of spring flowers deoorated the. rooms, tho freesias and anemones on the tea 'tables making a particularly fine display. Miss Richmond was in black, with furs and a black hat, and Miss Motto wore a blue gown, a long fur coat, and a black hat. Among those present wero: Mrs. Massey, Lady Russell, Miss Fraeer, Lady Gibbjs, Mrs. J. Darling, Mr?. Montague, Miss Phyllis Foil, Mrs. Geddis, Miss E. Richmend, Mrs. A. R. Atkinson, Miss Kane, Mis 3 Hiscock. Ladies' Trial Hockey Game. At Karori Pork on Saturday tho third ladies' senior representative trial game will bs played. Political Reform Leaquc. An enthusiastic meeting of the Women's Wellington Suburbs Branch of the New Zealand Political Reform League was held last night. A large list of members are already enrolled. Provisional committees wei'o set up for confirmation at tho general meeting. The league has affiliated with tho New Zealand Political Reform League adopting ill full its constitution and rules. It was decided to take immediate steps to make tho league of practical value by opening blanches and subbranches at all available points. The annual fee was fixed at 2s. fid. It was decided to call all tho members together at as early a dnte as possible when a largo muster is anticipated. Ladies' Golf Championships. Mr. and Mrs. Lysnar (Gisborne) yesterday arrived at Wellington after a 19 months' 6tay in England.
Several members of tho Julius Knight Company, who arrived from England by tho Sydney boat yesterday, havo made tho Empire Hotel their headquarters. Included among them are Mr. and ;Mrs.- Lets-, lie Victor, Miss G."A." Noble, Miss Emma Temple, and Miss Ruby Reynolds.
Mr. Usliarwood (Hastings) and Mr. and Mrs. C H. Drury (Hastings) who have been on a visit to England, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Sydney boat. The fortnightly meeting of tho Wellington South Nursing Division, of St. John' Ambulance was held on, Tuesday evening. Divisional-Surgeon Dr. Platts-Mills gave tin instructive lecture on "Poisons." She had gone to much trouble in tho arrangement of a display of many kinds of common poisons, and instruction ujion the best means of iirst aid treatment in cases of poisoning was given. During tho evening tho results of tho recent Home Nursing Examination were announced. At the close of the lecture, on the motion of Mrs. J. I'. Luke, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the doctor for her lecture, also for her kind remarks to ths competitors.
To-morrow afternoon Miss Georpie Martin and members, of the "Smart Set" 'entertainers will assemble at tho Black Cat Tea Rooms to meet a number of friends. A large gathering is anticipntcd.
