Bidding was even brisker than usual yesterday, when the Chief City Inspector (Sir. J. Doyle) held an auction sale of Roods that had been left in the trams. Quite a crowd collected in the Town Hall .corridor for the sale, and the 125 lots submitted realised between JEII and The articles sold comprised a billiard cue in case, brief bags containing empty' square-face bottles, ladies' liand bags, umbrellas, pick f.nd spado, electrical appliances, house spouting, articles of clothing, etc. The billiard cue sold at. half a guinea, and was declared 'to bo a "bargain" at that pricc. Umbrellas showed a general advance, and in some cases reached as high a price as five shillings. Altogethor it was a satisfactory sale.
