Tho steamer St. Irenee (2094 tons, sidewheel, Richlieu and Ontario Navigation Company) was partially wrecked through being flung into a wharf while en routo down the Saguenay River. A submarine disturbance is supposed to have been the cause of tho accident. Tourists aboard the steamer had a narrow escape of their lives.
