PATEA HARBOUR BILL.
PROVISION FOR FURTHER LOANS. Tho Patea Harbour Bill, wliicli is in charge of Ah\ Pearce, has been circulated. It gives the board power to borrow, iu addition to the ,£35,000 already borrowed, further sums not exceeding iIBG,OOO, at a rate of interest not exceeding C per cent., for tho purpose of carrying out harbour .improvements. The Bill makes provision for a special rate not exceeding nine thirty-seconds of a penny in tlio pound reputed capital value of all rateable property in the harlxmr district. The Patea* Harbour district is deilned by tile Bill a-s follows:—All that area ill the provincial districts of Tarnnnki and Wellington, Iximidcd towards the northwest by the Now Plymouth Harbour Board rating* district as described in the second schedule of the New Plymouth Harbour Board Ordinance, 1575, Amendment Act, 1577, from the, month of the Waingoligoro River to the Wmißanui River; thence towards the south-east by tlio Counties of Waitotara and Patea re-i-pectivelv to the scurfs of the west branch of tho Waitotarn River; thence towards tlio east generally by the said Wiitotara River to the ocean; and thence towards tlio south-west by the-occan to the place cf' commencement."
