It is from Sir .Tames Wilson, and was written to his wife:— '"I am afraid my dearest Jlargnret will think I have forgotten her, not having written since the glorious Battle of Vittoria, on the 21st. But really, my dear girl. I have been so hard worked and to fatigued with following tho army that I have not been able to put pen to paper. You will have seen by (lie Gazette that I was untouched, and perhaps be surprised at tho small loss sustained by Ihe llcgt. Happily, this time we escaped without much slaughter, though the fiogt. was under lire the whole day. 1 commanded a Light Brigade which was in the thickest of the action from morning till after dark—thanks to Divine Providence, untouched. " 'Such a day as the annals of history do not produce! AVe drove them from one of the strongest positions that could be taken up in front of Vittoria, occupied by seventy thousand men. Their right, left, and centre wore attacked and carried by the bayonet under a heavy cannonade. The enenty abandoned everything, with tho loss of one hundred and tit'tv-two pieces of cannon; all their baggage carriages, and military chestsone million of money has been taken. It was like a dream !' "
