DEFENCE ORDERS.
General orders promulgated by tho Officer Commanding tlio New . Zealand Defence. Forces contain reference to some amendments to regulations dealing with tho granting of leave of absence to offioers and men of the Now Zealand Staff Coi'ps, Boyal Not Zealand Artillery, and. New Zealand Permanent Staff. An. officor who obtains leave of absence will be required to givo his address and notify any diange in it to district headquarters. Tho officer commanding a district may grant leave of absence for one month per ydar to officers of the New Zealand Staff Corps and Hoyal New Zealand Artillery. Warrant officers and N.C.O.'s of tho Bormanent Staff may bo granted twonty-ono days and eighteen days' leave per year, respectively. Ail officer commanding a detachment of the K..N.Z.A. may grant twenty-one days' leave per yea'r to warrant officers of tho R.N.Z.A., and eighteen days to N.C.O.'s and men of the K.N.Z.A. No officer of tho N.Z.S.C. or K.N.Z.A., and no warrant officers, N.C.0., or man of the K.N.Z.A. or Permanent Staff may quit tho Dominion without permission from headquarters. Annual leave of absence for recreation maV be granted to officers, W.O.'s, N.C.O.'s or men duriug tho period from Juno 1 to October 31, or between December 15 to January 15, provided, their services'can b9 spared. Tlio granting of annual leave of ab-:onco to N.C.O.'s and men is to be subject to the condition that the character and general behaviour of tho applicant have been in ovory way satisfactory, and that- ho has beeu finally approved of for the service.
