LIBERALS AND SIR J. WARD.
Sir,—The efforts to the Liberal party undor tho leadership of Sir Joseph \Vard aro amusing. As one who has for many years supported tho Liboral party, I am unable to seo any difference between their professed policy and- tho policy of tho lleformors. Tho Liberals went to the country at the last election without any distinct policy, and ono is forced to ooncludo that tho only thine that keeps them together as a party is tho hopo of office. They profess to agree with the Reform party on naval defence, tho Defence Act, general land, policy, and other important matters, lho Liberals aro distinctly illiberal in opposing the reform of tho Legislative Council. I defy any member of the Liberal party to show any real cause wliy the electors should become enthusiastic in regard to Liberalism at tho present jrmcture.—l am, etc., DEMOS
