EMPIRE PARLIAMENTARY TOURISTS.
ARRIVAL AT VANCOUVER. By Tsleffrapli—Press Association—Oopyxisht Vancouver, August 5. The .Empire Parliamentary Association representatives have arrived here en route for Australia. Lord Emmott {Parliamentary UnderSecretary of State for the Colonies) referred to the drain of British emigrants towards Canada. Emigration, ho said, fewer unemployed in (Jreat Britain than probably ever before, the overflowing of the labour market seemed r.early ended. Mr. Will Crooks (Labour) advocated a system of labour-clearing houses, whereby the surplus labour of Britain could be despatched to' Canada, ami there helped to find work by, a Government Department, amd advised os to tho best methods of becoming accustomed to the country. Such a plan, he argued, would be likely to increase oven tho present rapid rate of immigration. Mr. T. Lough (Liberal), alluding to tho financial stringency throughout Europe,, said ho thought no serious effects would be felt in any of the oversea Dominions. Credit was Bound, both in Britain and Canada.
