TO GET BRITAIN TO THE PANAMA EXPOSITION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Cod jrieht (liec. August 5, 11.10 p.m.) ' New York, Auugst 5. Mr. Malnne, Third Assistant-Secretary to the State Department at AVashington, lias discussed with Sir Cecil Spring-Rica (British Ambassador at Washington), Great Britain's refusal to participate in the Panama Exposition. It is understood that an effort will likely bo made to induce tlio British Board o£ Trade to reconsider its refusal. Mr. Malono also intends to visit the Kussian and German Ambassadors, whoso countries have intimated that they will not participate. AUSTRALIA MAT SEND A DISPLAY. • Melbourne, August 5. The decision of the Imperial Government not to be represented at the Panama Exposition was reached after the Federal Govornment had decided to ask the cooperation of the Stales in an Australian display. Mr. Cook, the Pjime Minister, states that the Imperial Government's decision is important and requires consideration. If there is 110 Imperial display it may still be possible to do something to advertise Australia.
