THE STOLEN NECKLACE
DETECTIVES PUZZLED.
TWO THEORIES ADVANCED.
By Teleirapli—Prera Association-Oopjiizht (Rec. August 3, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, August 2. M. Niclausse, Assistant Chief Detective, lias informed Mr. Salomons, tho consignor of tho pearl necklaco which mysteriously disappeared recently, that inquiries showed that ths necklaco had not been stolen in tho post. The outer seals of the package wero intact, and could only have been fixed in London, while the inner seals were intact when tho package arrived. It is evidont, continued M. Niclausse, either that) tho theft occurred in Mr. Salomon's house in Paris, and that the thief's accomplice in London affixed wax seals similar to Mr. Ralomons's seals, or that the theft was committed in London after the packago left the post office, and before its delivery at Mr. Mayer's office.
