Spcak-v ing at Glasgow recently, sho combated tho contention that granting the voto to women would materially assist them in obtaining tho same remuneration as men' for their work. She disagreed with that, olio hiad several times nsked employers of labour whether, if they had the .saiuo number of men and women applying for employment at the samo ' wage, they would select men or women. Tho answer' was invariably men, and that they only took women because they ivcro cheaper.' If that were carried to its logical conclusion, it would meaii the ousting of women, altogether from the labour market. She believed that if fewer women were given employment moro men would be employed at higher wages, arid therefore would' bo ablo to support the'women who were dependent on That seemed to her to lio fulfilling Nature's law.
