HUNT CLUB AT TAITA.
A very successful "meet" of the Hutt branch of tlio Manawatu Hunt Club was held at Taita on Saturday. Tho drag was laid by Mr. C. F. Vallanco on Ben Hobson, and Miss Z. Vallance on "Tiki." Mr. S. W. Smith acted as deputy-master on Hapua, in the absenoe of Major Samuel. Quite a large gathering assembled to witness tho event. Tho seoond "pcet" will bo held this afternoon at Taita at 3 p.m. On Saturday tho jumping was excellent. Tho following riders were among those who followed tho hounds:— Mr. C. G. Hay ward (hon. secretary), on Vanity; Mr. E. Manning (hon. whip), on Scamp; Mr. Eobson (huntsman); Mr. Walker, on Oakley; Mr. H. Peters, on Cabbage Patch; Mr, J. Burrows, on Maza;" Mr. J. Hunter,. on Boot-patch; Mr. J. M'Kay. on Cob; Mr. Ball, on Captain; Mr. W. Dick, on Lady; Sir. D. Benge, on Sir Mauser; Mr. Sexton, on Papa; Mr. W. Tressidcr, Vaccination; Mr. P. Garvey, Gunner; and Mr. H. Trevethick, Brushmaker. Afternoon tea was provided by Major Samuels'at his residence.
