LACROSSE.
THE TRIAL MATCH. An ideal afternoon mado the conditions excellent for tlio representative trial match on Saturday afternoon at tlio Basin lieserve. The teams were oomposed of the strong: attack with the weak defence against the strong defence with the weak attack. Several of tlio players were tried by the selectors in various positions on the field during tho same, but taken altogether tlio display was not of nn interesting nature. In the first spell the game was fast and ovon, tlio A team leading by 3 goals to 2. During the second spell some good combined play was shown. Bscourt scored 5 goals, whilo Andrews, Fania, and .Tones put on ono each for the A team; Grant got 3 goals and Loe and HuUon one each for B team. Mr. A. T. Jantko was referee. Tho final selection of tho team will be made duriny tlie week.
