ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DEATH BY POISONING. Mabel Ada Hanhan, a married woman, aged 35, residing with lier husband in No. 17, Waripori Street, Berhampore, was the victim in the other case. Deceased went to bed on Wednesday night, apparently in good health, but yesterday i.uorning her husband discovered her showing symptoms of poisoning. Mrs. Hanhan, it is understood, had been suffering from melancholia for some time. Dr. Perkins was called ill, but too late. The sudden death was reported yesterday of Mr. J. G. Bay. Mr. Bay was removed to the Hospital in a serious state, ami (lied there shortly afterwards. All inquest will bo held. LIFTING TACKLE SNAPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, July 2i. At Lyttelton to-day, when a six-ton flywheel was being placed in position at the pumping-station at Exeter Street, tho tackle holding it broke, and the wheel fell on James Evans, breaking both thighs, and injuring him internally. He is not expected to recover. ARIKI RAORAO'S DEATH. Levin, July 21. At the inquest to-day on t.lio body of Ariki Raorao, an old Maori, who was knocked over at Levin, last week by a motor-car, a verdict was returned that death was due to tho fracture of the skull, caused by falling after boing struck. No blame, was'attachable to the driver of the motor-car. PASSENGER DIES IN A COACH. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Feildinq, July 24. There was a startling incident in the Kimbolton coach yesterday afternoon, Mr. L. Christensen, a pas-sender, suddenly expiring when about two miles on the l'eilding side of Kimbolton. Mr. Christensen, who leaves a widow and a grown-up family, had been oiling for some time. Ho was one of the oldest residents of the district, and lived on his farm, about a mile and a half from Kimbolton.
