THE RAND STRIKE.
COMMISSION OF INQUIRY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Sydney "Sun" Special—July 21, 7.40 p.m.) London, July 24. Mr. It. L. Outhwaite (Liberal), in the House of Commons, asked that Viscount Gladstone be instructed to submit a statement representing the Rand workers' views as to the cause of the. strike. Mr. Lewis Harcourt (Secretary of State for the Colonies) refused, stating that a commission was at present inquiring into the matter.
