DROPPING AUCKLAND. By Telegraph—Presa Association—Copyright Sydney, July 24. The "Herald" states that the Peninsular and Orient Steam Navigation Company i 9 dropping the Auckland service, on tho recommendation of Mr. Wesche, tho company's superintendent in Australia. Mr. Wesche, in an interview, said it was not possible to state whether the service would be discontinued this coming season, which commenced in November next. "Wo are awaiting," he remarked, "advice from London by letter, when wo expect to get full particulars of the proposed change. I received a cable some time ago to the effect that tho change was in contemplation. The contents of the cable were of such a nature as to cause 1110 to withdraw the -announcement from the papers, but I am awaiting fuller details beforo proceeding further in the matter. Meantime, I think it is highly possible that the vessels will not bo proceediug to Auckland next season. As a matter of fact, I suggested that they should not."
