AUSTRALIAN MEAT
MOVE TO DIVERT TRADE TO UNITED STATES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Sydney "Sun" Special.) Washington, July 23. With the view of diverting; Australian meat from Britain, the United States Government is sending an expert to Australia to teach the packers how to adapt the goods to the American market. A similar campaign of education is to bo undertaken in South Africa (? South America). London, July 23. The Washington correspondent of "Tho Times" states:—'"There aro fresh indications of an effort by the United States to divert Australasian meat from Britain in order to counteract the rising cost of living in America. Besides refrigerating steamers between San Francisco and Australasia, tho Government is sending experts to Australasia to teach the packers to adapt their goods to the American market, and a similar campaign of education will bo undertaken in South America."
