The Washington correspondent of "Tho Times" states:—'"There aro fresh indications of an effort by the United States to divert Australasian meat from Britain in order to counteract the rising cost of living in America. Besides refrigerating steamers between San Francisco and Australasia, tho Government is sending experts to Australasia to teach the packers to adapt their goods to the American market, and a similar campaign of education will bo undertaken in South America."
