In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Cann, Colonial Treasurer, stated that ho proposed asking for a special Bill authorising tlio raising of a three million loan in London for railway duplication and other works. Mr. Wade (Leader of the Opposition) strongly attacked the Government, principally upon its financial administration, to which lie attributed the present high cost of living. Regarding vaccination, lw condemned the proposal to vaccinate infants only, who could not hit back. In view of the hold smallpox had gained in the city and suburbs, the obvious course was to make vaccination universal, and protect the willing against the unw.Hing. The Government proposal was an exhibition of want of courage in dealing i*ith an urgent matter. He concluded his speech by moving a direct vote of want of confidence in the Government. Mr. Holman, the Premier, gave notice of motion to rescind the authorisation of tlio printing of the document tablrd by Mr. Willis, the ex-Speaker, attacking 'lie Lieutenant-Governor (Sir William (V.llen), and that the document be expunged from the records of the House. I'ho document had not been read when Mr. Willis secured his motion for printing, which the Government supported. Mr. Holman, after reading the document, decided to move that it bs expunged from the minutes. The House has adjourned till this afternoon. VICTORIAN ASSEMBLY A NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. Melbourne, July 24. In the State Assembly, Mr. M'Leod, Leader of the Country party, moved a want of confidence in the Watt Ministry. The debate was adjourned.
