TIED HOUSES.
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT,
In the House of Representatives yester(lay, Mr. It. M. Campbell (Hawko's.Hay) asked the Government whether they will amend tho Licensing Act so as to make tho apparent intention of the tied-houso clauses of tho Act effective; also to mako. it a penal offence against both tho pub-' lican and tho wholesale merchant who, supplies tho publican for selling or offer' iug for sale adulterated or inferior liquor! to the general public. Tho Hon. W. F. llassey (Prime Minister) said that, in tho event of a Licensing: Bill being introduced this session, tho matter referred to by the honourable member would receive consideration. Tho selling of adulterated liquor, either \,f wholesalo or retail, was already dealt with in existing legislation. A report, with regard l to the present system of inspection was being obtained from tho Health and Police Departments.
