DOCTOR'S VICTORY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Timaru, July 23. A remarkable recovery of a man from a complicated smash is to bo credited to modern surgery. J. Millar, an employee of Messrs. Scott Bros., electrical contractors, fell from the top of a' lighting-polo iu February last, striking his head on ■the concrete kerb of the footpath. Ho fractured his skull, and other injuries were, tho pelvis broken in three places, five ribs broken, one piercing a kidney, breast-bone broken, left arm broken in three places, and minor injuries and shock. Ho lay in hospital for live days unconscious, and the case was deemed hopeless, vet this week he resumed work, and says ho feels as well as he ever did.
