Tlie following- are ' the main features Hours of labour to be in accordance with the requirements of the Shops nnd. Offices Act. Holidays: New Year's Day, ate January 2, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, tho birthday of the reigning Sovereign, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Anniversary Day, and the day of the Dunedin operative butchers' annual picnic. If any day shall be generally observed as a holiday in lieu of the abovementioned holidays, such day shall be substituted. Where two holidays come together, or one falls on a Monday, employers may require their workmen to attend for a period not exceeding two hours. At the commencement of the 6econd of such holidays, or at the commencement of a. Monday if tho holiday falls on the Monday, the employees so working to receive tho half-holiday on the Wednesday of that week. Journeymen shall be paid as follows:—First shopman, ov man in charge, .£3 10s.; second, ,£3; first small goods man, ,£3 10s.; all other workers, including Shop men, small goods men, men in charge of order carts, men in charge of hawking carts, £2 lis. per we«k. Each journeyman shall receive ss. worth of meat per week, or ss. in cash at tho employer's option. Boys and youths under sixteen. 155.; 16 to 17, 17s. 6d.; 17 to 18, 225. 6d.; 18 to 21, 30s. Improvers, 21 to 22, £2 per week. The proportion of boys, youths, and improvers to be one to every three men or fraction of /three. Any employee who docs substantially;.the work of a shop man shall be classed as first shop man. Casual labour:—Minimum wage: Adults, 10s. per day "all ordinary days, and 12s, for Saturdays. Nothing contained in the award shall be deemed to apply to clerks or other persons exclusively employe*} in ofiico work, nor to persons employed at ca«h registers only. Preference and under-rate clauses are included. The award is to apply to all employers within a radius of 25 miles of the chief post office. The term of the award is three years.
