SOCIETY'S CONFERENCE TO-DAY. The eleventh' annual conference of the New ( Zeuland Acclimatisation Societies' Association will be opened at the Chamber of Commerce to-day, under the presidency of Mr. L. 0. H. Among tho various remits wliich are to come up, those which have been sent on by the Wellington Society read ns follow:— (1) That this association authorises its executive committee "to expend not more than fifty (,£SO) pounds in the importation of grouse, black game, or some other feathered game, to be liberated in one place, such place to be fixed by this conference. (2) That the Government be asked to amend tho Animals Protection Act so that the . production of his warrant shall no longer be a condition precedent to a ranger's right to exercise the powers given him bv law. (3) That the Government b" asked to pass legislation to render the Horowhenua Lake open for the fishing of trout.
