(From Oar Bseolal OomßDonflsnU 0 At the annual meeting of Knox Presbyterian Cliurcli, Lower Hutt, tho report indicated that tho membership had increased by 25 during the year. Tho Coinmunieal roll now numbered 150. A Sunday school had been opened at Feist's Buildings, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. P. Shan - . The ordinary collections had amounted to .£l9l—a considerable advance on last year's amount. Other receipts for the year were ladies' guild bazaar .£6O, and .£OS from tho estate of tho Into Mr. K J. ltiddiford. The church debt now stood at <£420. At the conclusion-of tho meeting a motion was passed recording the congregation's high appreciation of tho work of tho Rev. J. M'Caw nnd Mrs. M'Caw. Votes of thanks were also accorded tho church workers. Messrs. Bertram and Shaw were re-elected managers, and Messrs. Feist, Murdo, Scalloy, and M'Caskill were elected to other vacanies. After remarkably good play in the Taita Tennis Club's semi-finals for tho trophy of Mr. H. A. W. M'Ke.nzie (club patron), tho contest between M. W. Welch and Percy Brown resulted in favour of the former by three points. In tho play-off for t'ho final between F. Bales and M. AV. Welch—a sixty-point game—the result was in doubt until near tho finish, when Bales succeeded in winning by four points in the last services. Mr. M'Kenzio presented the trophy at a gathering of members this week. Tho patron's trophy for tho ladies, the result of which contest lias not yet been decided* is causing keen rivalry.
