ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
THE LATE MR. LE GROVE, THE INQUEST. Tho City- Coronet (Dr. A. M'Arthur) hold an inquest yesterday touching tho (lentil of Ernest John Lc Grove, who was found dead at his business premises, Lainbton Quay, on Wednesday last. , Win. Lawrence, a member of tho firm of Le Grove and Lawrence Company, stated in evidence that deceased had been very despondent; for tho past month. Witness could not give any reason for this despondency, excepting that deceased had been in bad health and had betn twice operated upon recently. A verdict; was returned by tho coroner to the effect that deceased committed suicide by shooting himself whilst in a despondent stflto of mind, this being duo probably owing to his bad health. CHILD DROWNED. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Dannevirke, July 10. The two-year-old child of Francis Arthur Parr wns drowned in a well at. his parents' place at Whetukura. The little fellow evidently slipped in whilo playing. FOUND HANGING. Wanganui, July 16. Tlie police received word to-day from Mr. Connor, of Eaorikia, about fourteen inileg up the river, that he had found the body of a man hanging to a tree. The body proved to be that of a seaman, Charles Woods, aged 23, single, and supposed to have been lately fireman on the steamer John. CARGO FALLS ON WORKER, Wanganui, July 10. A fatal accident occurred on the town wharf this evening, a man named Jack O'Connor, aged about 35, losing his life. He was a butcher by trade, but,-for health reasons, had adopted heavy work on the wharves. He was assisting to unload the Rimu, and was receiving a tiling of boxes on the wharf, when tho boxes swung out, and he was carried with them. Then by some means tho whole lot camo to the deck, tho Itoxes on top of O'Connor. ;.Ho was badly crushed, and died in the hospital about an hour later. DEATH BY BURNING. . - Flotorua, July 10. A Native named Kawiri, 80 years of age, was burned to death at Wharepaina, near Waiotapu, through tho destruction of his wliare last night.
