Wanganui, ,was played here to-day and resulted in a win for Taranaki by 11 points to 2. Heavy rain made the ground vorv heavy and slippery, but a good display "of football was given, the game being « s fast and clean as could be expected under tho conditions prevailing. Just on tho call of half-time Siddells scorcd tor Wanganui from a mark' by Callaghan. Tn the second half Taranaki had the better of the play. Hooker got over, and Malone converted. Then Kylo dribbled over front a forward rush and Gcrnhoefer added another try just beforo time, Malone failing with both kicks.

TO-MORROW'S FIXTURES'. The Proud Cup compstition will bo continued to-morrow (Saturday) afternoon at Wakefield Park (Duppa Street), the Basin Reserve not b«ng available. The principal contest will be between Kelburne and Columbia, and as each team lias defeated tho other earlier in the season, and both are well in tlie- running for tho cnampioiiship, a good tussle for victory should bo witnessed. Capitol will bo opposed by Wellington, and this match should provide some goodi play, and, unless a surprise happens, another victory should coinie to tho rwloubtable Capitolates. Both matches will commence at 3 o'clock, and will be controlled respectively by Messrs. A. C. Jantke and P. J. M'Ciovern.

BILLIARDS.
. Three interesting games in tho second round of the Alcock billiard diner lour T noinent were played at the firm's showrooms on Wednesday. A groat deal of interest centred on the gamo Tucker (150 behind scratch) v. Collins (50 oh). Tucker had almost overhauled liis opponent when tho half-way mark ivas readied.' This put .Collins on his mottl?, and ho settled down to tho safety game, giving his opponent a number ot double baulks, but littlo elso to play at, finally winning by a margin of 70 odd points. Tho winner'sbest breaks were li), 18, and 15. The loser made runs of 13, 37, 43, 21, 23. Tho gaino Ingrain v. Brown was an even, hard-fought match up to tho 190 mark, when Brown put on a couplo of nico breaks and reached his points with 55 to spare. The winner's best breaks were 30, 25, 23, and the loser's 20, 18, 17. The match Gaudy (75 on) v. Grabham (25 on) was also a close, interesting .contest, although in the early stages it looked as if Grabham was likely to have an easy win. Gandy, however, put on a nice break of 3J, aud kept his lead until the scores were called 209 all. Grabham then put up two nice little breaks, aud ran out, the scares being 250—209. Tho winner's best breaks were 21, 28, 21 unfinished, and the loser's 34, 19, 15. Thirkell defaulted to Bull.

THE AUCKLAND FINALS. (By Tslsgrnph.—Pres» Association.) Auckland, July 10. Results of boxing finals continued:— Feather-weights: Bennetts had ah easy win from Dowsing. Light-weights: M. James defeated L. Bliss by a large margin on points. Middle-weights: J. Cadiuan aud C. Cato had a fierco cofitest.
