AVIATOR DROWNED.
WHILE TESTING A TRANS-ATLANTIC FLYING MACHINE. By Telegraph—PrcEa Association—Copyright (Bee. June 24, 10.50 p.m.) , London, June 24. An aviator named Fairbairns, who was testing a 350 horse-power aluminium aeroplane, devised for trans-Atlantic flights, tho body of tho machine being enclosed, and provided with a conning tower with glass sides, essayed a flight from Brooklands to Shoeburyness. ■ When a thousand feet above the sea the aeroplane dipped and fell. A friend saw tho accident, and sailed to the spot. Ho attempted to lift tho conning tower, but tho aeroplane, sank before lie could get Fairbairns out.
