THE BATTLE CRUISER.
STAY AT NEW PLYMOUTH. (Br Telofrranh—Prcfl« Association.) New Plymouth,, June 17. The battle-cruiser New Zealand arrived in New Plymouth at 9.30 this morning and was anchored in the roadstead. The weather was beautiful and there were 20,000 to see her, Six Union Company andi Northern Company vessels, besides the Tutanekai encirclnd the vessel, but none tendered her. The smaller craft, however, took a largo number aboard. 'Captain Halsey 'and the officers were accorded a welcome on landing by local Maoris ajid afterwards Captain Halsey delivered a speech on the lines of his previous addresses. ' Later he was entertained at luncheon and shown some of the beauty and historical spots of the town. All arrangements were carried out without a hitch. The crowd was a record l one for Tarnnaki. After a brilliant torchlight display the vessel left for Russell.
