POSITION OF ME. MYEES. (By Telegraph.—From Association.) Auckland, June 17. Mr. Arthur M. Myers, M.P. for Aucktend East, delivered a pre-sessional address this evening. Dealing with finance, he defended the raising of the four and l a half million loan, as Minister for Finance in the Jlackenzie Ministry, and said that wjien the loan was converted the cost for the whole period would probably be less than that of the loan just raised by the present Government. In justifying his action in taking up an independent attitude last session, he said that as tho present Government, on coming into ofnoe, proceeded to carry out practically the whole of til® Mackenzie Government's policy, he 'considered that ho could best discharge the responsibilities to his constituents by reverting to his original position as an Independent Liberal.
