At tho Feathcrston County Council meeting on Friday a motion by Councillor A. Hannay, to tho effect that the proposal of the Woodvillo Borough Council in the direction of taxing motor cars, bo supported, gave occasion for considerable discussion. Tho mover, who, by tho way, owns a motor-car himself, spoko strongly in favour of taxing motor vehicles. Tho majority of councillors toolc the opposite view, and tho motion was negatived.—lt was decided to forward to tho Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board a formal protest agauist the increased expenditure of that body, and to send a copy of the resolution to the Lower Hutt Borough Council.-Tho chairman (Mr. A. D. M'Leod) was appointed delegate to the Counties' Associations Conference.—The assistance of the Masterton and Wairarapa South _ County Councils is to be solicited in asking for a Government grant towards the.Kiiuutaka Koad— It was decided to obtain a report from tho overseers in respect to properties in certain parts of flic county which aro using tho road-drains for _ private draining, with a view to charging tlieiu with linif the cost of plpnninjr tho drains.
