TWa twonty-sovonth annual meeting or tho New Zealand Alliance, held in Christchurch this year, opened to-day by special services in many of tho city and suburban churches, and by gatherings ul different parts of tho. city. Largo numbers of ablegates from* all parts of Now Zealand have arrived to tafio part in tho proceedings. At 3 o'clock to-day two meetings were held, ono an open-air sen-ice in Victoria Square at which tlio Rev. J. Dawson, secretary of tho Alliance, was the leader, and addresses were Riven by Messrs. J. M'Gresor (Masterton), B. French (Auckland), and 11. I). Bedford (Dunedin) The other afternoon meeting was at tho Central Mission Brotherhood's place of meetin", at the Queen's Theatre, in Hertford Street. Mr. Wesley Spmgg, president of tho Alliauco, presided, and the Rev. A. T Thompson gave an address entitled "What's Wrong With Masterton." In the ovoning there will be a combined church meeting in the Colossonm. Mr. L. M. Isitt, M.P., will preside, and addressc-a will bo given by Mcs?rs. Bedford and A. T. Thompson and tho Rev. R. S. Gray.
