IMPUDENT THREAT.
TO THE MINISTER FOR JUSTICE. (By Tcleeraph—PreES Association.) Chrlstchurch, Juno 14. . Yesterday tlio treasurer of the Passive Resistors' Union telegraphed to (the Minister for Justice as follows:—"Unless the boys are released from Ripa Island within 48 hours a serious position will arise. Wo aro making preparations for 600 men and will possibly take possession of military baracks." , The Hon. James Allien, Minister for Defence, replied that ho was inquiring into the question and seriously hoped that the suggested proceiedings would not bo carried out. , However, the president and vice-presi-dent of the union subsequently stated that the treasurer had acted on his own initiative, and they emphatically repudiated the threat.
