HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.
The Hospital Committee met yesterday afternoon. Those present were :-31r.' J. Smith (chairman), Dr. Platts-Mills, Dr. Mackenzie, Bov. AV. A. Evans, and Messrs. H. Baldwin, W. Galloway, B. B. Gardener, D. M'Laren, and G. Nash. Fortnightly returns wero submitted of in-patients at the Wellington Hospital to June 9. the figures for tho same period last year being give in parentheses mitted, 169 (144) i discharged, ho (114); still in, 291 (282). There arc 147 males in the institution and 142 females. The request of the Department for permission for Misses Petherington and Murray to act as examiners for local midwifery examinations- was referred to the acting-medical superintendent and matron, with power to act. The tender of Messrs. SI Lean and Gray (JC492), for tho structural alterations and extras in connection witli the outpatients' and bacteriological block was a °lt P was decided to send a letter of thanks to Mr. R. Cruickshank, of Petone, for donation of a bed-rest.
