WELLINGTON INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.
The Wellington Provincial Industrial Association met last evening, the president (Mr. L. li, Partridge) presiding. On May 27 last a committee, consisting of lie, ssrs. Partridge and Norwood, visited the "Wellington Technical College, and last oveniiig that committee presented its report. This report stated that the committee had been impressed by some of the anatomical models which are used by the. students in physiology and domestic science classes. . The college library had been inspected, and the committee found that it contained many modern books on technological subjects. They ■were also much interested in the latest additions to the library, which included books dealing with such subjects as engineering construction, machine designing, electric traction, wool manufacture, building construction, and architecture, and art and art. orafts. In regard to the chemistry class, they had observed the difficulty which must be experienced in teaching students in various stages in the same class. Neither the accommodation, nor the numbers of students offering at the present time, permit of more satisfactory arrangements, however. In the jnnior, electrical class some 30 students ■wore 'round jammed l into an unsuitaMo room, where, notwithstanding the discomfort, they seemed to be in their work. The classes in commercial, geography, shorthand "and typing, wero largo and successful, though hampered by the unsuitability of rooms and furniture. The committee had noticed, and had been favourably impressed with, the apparent earnestness of the students, and the general air of study in all t])o classes visited. Thev concluded their report by expressing a hope that the nresent cramped condition"! existing at the Wellington Technical College would not long con-
tinue, and that a committee m«v soon be able to report a visit to the self-coii-tained central institution more in keeping with the importance of the work.
The. report was adoptpd. . The secretary (Mr. 11. F. Allen) reported thati the total space let in the Auckland Exhibition was !)C,OOO square feet, and applications'for space have absolutely closed. He remarked that lie had received a number of late applications during the past week, but there wos no space left. Wellington will be represented by thirteen exhibitors, reorosenting a total space of 5550 square feet.
