CRICKET.
WELLINGTON NOETH CLUB. On Saturday evening last, tho Wellington North Cricket Club held a smoko concert to celebrate their winning'"of the' 1912-13 cricket championship. ' .Dr. A. IC. Newman; who'presided, congratulated the club on its excellent performance. Speaking gonerally about tho game, Dr. Newman remarked that ho had noticed that it was losing interest to the public. He had also noticed that at Home there was a falling-off in the attendances at the big matches. The criokoters at Home had realised how slow tho game was, and they were, he was glad to say, considering the advisability of speeding it up. Personally, he thought that tho gamo needed speeding up. Others present spoke on tho same matter. The usual toasts were honoured, and a number of musical items were contributed.
