HARRIERS.
The Wellington Harriers Club had a fair muster at Thorndon Baths on Saturday afternoon for tho weekly run. Unfortunately projected arrangements had to be abandoned owing to a misunderstanding. Tho ultimate result was that no trail-laying material came to hand. A run was, however, undertaken. Absence of paper made it necessary to select a familiar course, which included considerably more road work than was to . the average runner's liking. The courso decided upon was from the baths to Kaiwarra; the bridle track was then, followed to Khandallah, and the road was then followed exclusively to Johnsonville. Tho return was made to tho baths, via Ngahauranga Gorge and Hutt Road. The pack was dispatched in four batches, the limit men being conceded about ten minutes' start by the scratch division. Number 1 division were not caught until entering Khandallah, where tho second batch passed them and took up the pace-making. This order continued until reaching The back men gradually drew nearor. Shortly after entering the gorgo at Johnsonville end, the leaders came to . a standstill, caused by the upsetting of a milkman and his stock-in-trade. First-aid was rendered by tho harriers. Tho scratch men reaped tho advantage caused b.v the interruption. On getting under way again W. Bennett and W. Donaldson went to the front, the pace being made fairly warm. The event resulted in a win for tho club champion, W. Bennett, with E. Eagle second and T. Farrington third. The lengthy run-in caused the pack to string out considerably. Nest Saturday the club will assemble at Lyall Bay for the weekly run.
