PUSS IN BOOTS.

"PCSS IN BOOTS." To-night at'the Opera House the curtain will riso at 7.45 punctually on the first representation here of "Puss in Boots," which is claimed to bo one of the best, brightest, and cleverest pantomimes yot staged by the J. C. "Williamson, Ltd., management. A scenic and lighting rehearsal took place last evening. There are, according to tile management, excellent seats in the dress circle and reserved stalls which can bo selected at the Dresden, and day sales may bo purchased at Christeson's. The cast, it is stated, is much stronger than ever before, including a number of England's most popular pantomists, whilst tlio specialty acts, it is said, outclass any previously witnessed in a Williamson pantomime. This evening's performance will present for the first time to local playgoers Miss Violet Loraine, who comes with the reputation of being tlio most popular "principal boy" Drwry Lane Theatre, London, has produced. Miss Loraine, it is stated, has the gifts xdiich go to make an actress successful. Miss Loraine is tho possessor of a really good singing voice, which she uses to exceptional advantage in a number of musical items. Mr. George Miller, who also comes with a Loudon reputation, has, it is said, achieved his greatest triumph as Dame Shortly, whom he presents as a delightful middleaged lady. Playgoers will welcome the reappearance her;' of "Pip" Powell, as he made himself extremely popular last year a= tho Pame. In "Puss in Hoots" he takes the role of King Grabbus which gives him abundance of opportunities to make bis audience laugh. Miss Alice TCusson, iho principal "girl." who also hails from London, is said to boa delightful actress, and I he possessor of a sweot soprano voice. A good deal of interest has boon aroused over tho appearance in the pantomimo of Mr. Trod. Leslie and Miss Ivy Schilling, whoso acrobatic dancing is said to ho a feature of the production. Mr. O. K. Leniion, animal impersonator, is reported to hnvo scored heavily as tho Cat. Tho athIctic acrobatio fents performed bv the Gaudsmidts, Continental clowns, and their marvellously clever dogs, and tho acts of Messrs. Collins and Ilart, burlesque acrobats, aro said to to remarkably good. Others in tlio cast include the Misses Dorothy Firmin, Nellio Leslie. Messrs. Pmprrt Piirrcll, G. Pnyteu. Vernon Davidson, Stuart Garner, nnd U. 11. Sutton. 'I'bo dailces wero arrnnsred by Miss Minnie. Kverett. Mr. ,T. C.
