ENTERTAINMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. The. last three nights of the Serenadcrs, who have had a successful season at the Theatro Royal, are announced. The vaudeville portion of the programme, which is at present very .strong, is contributed to bv: Fritz Von Listen, Madame Marvell's trained cockatoos, Carmen and Lawrence (musical sketch artists], the Musical Tluxhains, and the E-iina Duo. Tho programme will be repeated this evening. lITS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Cleopatra," a remarkably good drama, with Helen Gardener in the title role, is the principal film in the. current programme at His .Majesty's Theatre. The "Gamnont Graphic" is another interesting picture, which gives all the latest topical events. "Our Birds at Homo" is the title of a coloured study by Patlie Prercs. "His Wife Came Back" is a Vitagraph comedy depicting tho trouble of one Johnny Bunny. THE KING'S THEATRE. Tho leading pictures in the current programme of luncniatograph films at tho King's Theatre is a Pathc colour-dramatic study entitled "Zaza." The supporting items include: "What a Change of Clothes Did" (a Maurice Costello story), "The Ambassador's Daughter," tho "Paths Gazette," "Vanishing Lady," and W. W. Francis swimming the Bristol Channel. THE NEW THEATRE. A complete change of programme will 'be introduced at the New Theatro continuous pictures to-day and to-night, wliich will include "Nick Winter and the Stolen Favourite," described as a startling dramagraph. A gang of criminals get a man, who resembles the noted detective, Nick Winter, to steal the Baron's racehorse, Whirlwind. Winter soon gets on the track of the gang and has many adventurous experiences before ho runs them to earth. Tho remaining numbers include "Ireland tho Oppressed" (Kalem drama), "Through the Flames" (Tiianhouscv drama), also scenic and comic screenings. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. "The Black Countess," tho management of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures explains, owing (o numerous requests will be retained in the programme to-day and to-morrow during day sessions only. This drama owes its popularity to the fascinating nature of the plot,, the beautiful colouring, tho costly mountiiivs, and brilliancy of the spectacular scenes. Tlis regular new programme to-day and to-night will "feature" the Vitagraph Company's latest dramatic sensation, "Tho Ambassador's Disappearance," in which Maurice Costello takes the leading role. Another important study will bo the Edison Company's stirring railway drama, "Between Ortoii Junction and Fallonville." In this play the heroino rides a desperate race to save a railway collision. Notable also are "Performing Dogs and Monkeys," "Genoa" (travel), "Boyhood's Dreams" la visionary adventure with Indians), and comedies. THE DANDIES. Mr. Edward Branscombe's new company of Dandies will open in. the largo Town'' Hall on Monday night. The new Dandies should be able to keep lip tho enthusiasm in this, bright and original type of entertainment. . All are said to •be . picked peoplo of exceptional ability. Oho is already known in New Zealand, but Mr. Fordo Waltham's connection with tho Scarlet Troubadours so popularised him with thousands of folk that in his case "familiarity can only breed content." Of the others, the leading comedian, Mr.. Athol Tier, is reported to be an artist of great versatility and dash'. His dancing is said to be unique among ,c6mediansf of his standing. The ladies of the combination, Misses Lily and Rita Fitzgerald and Peggy Ross, aro comediennes and vocalists who it is claimed havo been established favourites wherever they havo appeared. _ These clever folk are said to do strikingly effective' in their concerted work, as in their, solo items. Tho management stresses tlie fact that anything vulgar or old is rigorously excluded from the Dandies' repertoire. Many folk seem to think that there is only one really excellent company of Dandies, but the management claim that they will prove without doubt that it is altogether ■ a mistake. Tho companies differ in their personnel, and peculiar endowments, but tho quality is consistent. A striking proof of tho excellence of the company is tho fact that iit successfully sustained .a six months' season in Brisbane, and the report that many were turned away nightly during the recent Auckland season.
