"The appeal mado for funds to erocfr a Booth Memorial Training College has been answered from tho North Capo to tho Mluff," said a Salvation Army ollicial yesterday! whon speaking to a Dominion representative. A general appeal was made for £10,000, and up to yesterday the sum of XOG7U lis. Id. had been subscribed. It is estimated that ,£ISOO will bo required, in addition to tho jCIO.OOn, for furnishing tho building when it is completed, and donations are still required, i'hero have been several largo sums given, ranging over JCIJIO, and contributions liavo also been sent in down to tho small sum of Id. When the building is completed, it will, it is stated, Ira one of the finest training colleges for officers possessed by the Salvation Army, and tho benefit will bo felt throughout Now Zealand, for officers will bo sent from tho college to all parts of tho Dominion. In connection with the laying of tho foundation-stono by the Prime Minister (tho Hon. W. F. Masscy) on' Monday next, a programme will bo issued bearing an appeal ou one side for funds, which will be received as a small token of appreciation for the disinterested labours of tho late General William Booth.
Little lias been <lono yet towards the building, beyond the laying of solid foundations. Preparations aro now being made to have everything in readiness by Monday next, when, in addition to tho stone laid by the Prime Minister on behalf of the peoplo of tho Dominion, Commissioner 'Richards will place a stone on behalf of the Salvation Army.
