MR. ISAACS'S GOOD NAME. HISTORY OF HIS COMPANIES. By Telecrarli—Freas Association—Oopjriflt (Rec. June 1, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 31. The libel action brought by Mr. Godfrey Isaacs, who floated the Marconi Company, against Mr. Cecil Chesterton, editor of the "Eye Witness," for a series of attacks on him, was before the Court again to-day, when Mr. Isaacs gave evidence with • regurd to his connection with, a number of public companies which Mr. Chesterton had described as discreditable.
Under cross-examination, witness ' admitted that ho had not held shares in the Transvaal Limited Company, and retired from the board shortly after the issue of the prospectus. He wha on the board of another South African company, Geluk, Limited, and admitted his connection with a number of automobile and Welsh mining, companies which were unsuccessful. He denied that he had made money promoting them, or by manipulating the market. The witness . was sharply cross-examined regarding his earlier experiences in the city. He admitted that he had been associated with a number of companies which were failures, including an Australasian motor-car company. Ho denied that he could be described as a discredited'syndicate adventurer.
