Five men of the crew of the Messageries Maritimes steamer Senegal were killed and six wounded in the explosion resultant on the vessel striking a floating mine off Smyrna. The rest of the 120 persons aboard were saved. - It was an automatic mine that the Senegal struck. Her starboard bow_ was lipped. The captain showed admirable coolness, and succeeded in beaching tho
