Sentence .was deferred in tlio case of Albert Jennings, found guilty of stealing. laily'p bicycle. TJios. Sterling pleaded not guilty-to- a chargc of having stolen thirteen' fislnngnets, valued at -X'-D s<. 'J'ho jury returned a verdict of guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy on the following grounds: (1) Of previous good character, and' (2) that prisoner originally look the nets without intending to deprive (ho owner of them, but afterward:-, lu. assisting to conceal them, 'lie wjis nclualcd. by (he fear of the consequences. A« ia not known what the above verdict. amounts to the matter is (o be discussed before the Court, to-ninrrow morning, to ascertain what the real verdict is. In (he meantime the prisoner was allowed (o go free on his own recognisance. Eugenn Allen, train conductor, charged with perjury in connection with his evidence at (ho inquest on Miss 33. 15. Coombs, win found not guilty. Leonard Molloy, for theft of a cheque for .CI. 1 ), was .sentenced to two years' reformative treatment; Thomas George Little, for llieft from (lie person, to eighteen months' imprisonment; and. Arlhiir KaiiKiv. aged 7f', for indecent assault on n child S years of age, (o live years' reformative treatment.' ' Auckland, May 13. Alfred Rawson was found guilty of tlis theft of a watch and chain from "William Mumford. Ho was sentenced (o six months' imprisonment. James Edward Siangan was found guilty of stealing a cheque for .CIS, the properly of George Nieoll. and was sentenced la six mouths' imprisonment.
